Renato Galvao wins in Brasil

This weekend 01/02 of December saw the last Paulista Pro Event held at Pitangieras-Guarujá beach in São Paulo, the most important State Championship.

With a sunny day, a full beach and 3-5 feet waves, the stage was set for competitors from all over Brasil. Although losing to Diego Santos in the 3th round (who went on to win the event) Renato Galvao secured the 2007 state title after a nail biting final heat.

Going into the event Renato had a significant points advantage over his closest rivals and after his exit in the 3rd round could do nothing other than wait nervously on the beach.

In the final only Ricardo Ferreira was in with a real chance to steal the title, but had to secure victory or 2nd place to do it.

Waiting on the sand, Renato Galvão watched the final, Diego Santos opened the heat with a 7.00 point wave and continued this advantage, leading till the end. Flávio Costa got second and Ricardo showing nervous surfing ended up making mistakes and finished 3rd.

Renato Galvão partied with his friends and celebrated his second state title, completely stoked...
